![]() It's beyond that time of year again - dry, flaky skin. I'm sure you have heard of this technique before and maybe a lot of you do the method a few times a week. I did it quite often last winter and until recently, the winter here has been mild. About two weeks ago, northern Wisconsin became very cold and dry and my skin is not liking me. Yes, I'm lazy sometimes and don't follow any type of beauty routine. I did start dry body brushing again and using my favorite body butter and my skin is much happier. The nights I don't dry body brush, I use a body scrub which helps save some time because I can skip the moisturizer. This technique is also great to do before shaving. What is Dry Body Brushing? Dry body brushing is done before a shower, while your body is still dry. I recommend standing in your shower (with out water on) while you dry body brush. 1. Buy a body brush made of natural plant fiber, a course bath glove, a loofah, or a course body scrub. I like the ecoPOUF® Cleansing Pad from ecotools and use the natural loofah side to dry body brush because it is milder and the handle is nice but there are many natural bristle body brushes available. 2. Brush vigorously making circular motions and massage every part of your body. The amount of pressure you use depends on your skin sensitivity. Start with feet and legs, then hands and arms, then back, abdomen, chest and neck. After a few times, try using more pressure. 3. Once finished, shower to clean off exfoliated skin cells. 5-10 minutes of brushing is ideal. After your shower, use a moisturizer. The benefits of dry body brushing:
